Everyone talks about 4e since the D&D experience is ongoing.
Have a look over at Critical Hits, they are my official source of 4e stuff. Even I can’t stay calm and unfazed by what Dave and Bart are uncovering.
D&D 4e will be a different game, as much as 2e and 3e were different games.
I really am looking forward to see more about DMing that game.
I’ll leave the analysis to the others… but it seems I’ll probably think about pre ordering the core set soon. Sigh… I’m such a sucker for newness…
Speaking of which, Graham sent me this link… which seems to be a playtester’s accounts of 4e.
(Edit) Part 2 is here.
Enjoy!

I have to say that in August, when I was at GenCon, and they announced 4e, I was lukewarm to the idea of another version of D&D. But the more I am reading, and some of the character sheets posted on Critical-Hits, the more excited I am getting about this version.
4e is going to be a vastly different game from 3e. But I really like the things that I am seeing. The rules are more streamlined, and the characters are far more exciting, even at 1st level. I would not put a 1st level 4e Wizard up against a 2nd level 3.5e Fighter.
I am sure that I will be getting my PHB the day they come out.

Chatty: It’s not a game I expect everyone to like.
But Andy Collins, without calling it such, basically went on and on about The Rule of Cool. Giving players plenty of cool stuff to do was definitely a goal of this edition.
So I expect it will go over will with you and your group.

I like everything I’ve seen so far about 4E.
Really looking forward to it.

The linked review sounds a little “artificial” to me. It sounds so “happy, happy” that it reminds me of a marketing press release disguised as a “real” review. Just my opinion, but I tend to take all reviews of this type with a grain of salt. I do agree that critical-hits is doing a very good job of covering the DDXP. I hope to hear more from him.

Always take reviews with a grain of salt, of course. YMMV with everything.
But these guys are not paid reviewers. And this type of review has been popping up everywhere from playtesters, as well as from those at D&D XP.
So don’t take his word as law, of course. But trust that it is, indeed, his personal, legitimate opinion.
Especially since tomorrow will be the “monsters and gripes about the system” post.

After reading the AICN reviews of it, as a newbie to pen and paper rpg I’m really excited. Especially for the increased opportunities to find and play with a group that might be remote and that fits with my work schedule. I’d pay $10 p/m for the services.

I love that they are doing away with critical hit confirmation, defiantly going to be buying 4e when it comes out.
