RPG Superstar!

Paizo, the fine folks behind many awesome Dungeon and Dragon issues (until recently), have started a new contest to attract people to the RPG writing biz. They’re calling it “RPG Superstar“, and the first stage of the contest, a completely open call, starts today and accepts submissions for the next two weeks. The first thing they want is a new Wondrous Item: fluff, crunch, and all, in under 200 words. From there, the field will be narrowed down, until only one Superstar remains. The ultimate winner will be given a commission to write a new product for Paizo.

For those of you who want to break into the RPG biz, this is your chance. But you’re going to have to write one damn good 200-word wondrous item to be one of 32 out of potentially hundreds.

    200 words? I can’t even say hi in less than 2 pages?

    I’m going to sit this one out and focus on the blog…. anyway I can’t win, my Nemesis, Wolfgang Baur sits on the Jury….

    Unless….

    Hmm…I’ve got stuff sitting in my old D&D folder…I’ma have to look through it and come up with something better than Boccob’s Band of Arcanity…

    Good luck Phil! If I have any trickle of creative juice left this week between two really hard grad assignments and my regular D&D game, I’m going to give it a shot as well!

    I made the research through the DMG and the Magic Item Compendium and found my concept untapped.

    So I wrote it up and posted it… I’ll blog about it after the drop date…

    Let’s just say that I’ll be using it in my next game!

    …and I made a pretty significant typo that might get my entry rejected… :(

    I should have gotten it proof-read by someone else….

    Bartoneus and myself both submitted an entry a short bit before the deadline.

    According to the Paizo site, there were more than 850 entries.

    Good luck to us all, we’ll need it!
