I don’t post on here very often (this being my second actual post), but I do read most of the articles. I tend to not comment as my comments are mostly moot points that state absolutely nothing. I do however feel it necessary to vent today. My present position on the earth is to say the least, very inconvenient when it comes to gaming. I have been able to play a few games on my laptop, but none of the tabletop/board games I am so fond of. I also, at present, have no way of logging on to my beloved WoW (yes I’m insatiably addicted). I have to cope with it as best I can though and hopefully will be getting an internet connection soon. As I ramble and slowly work my way to a point, let me just say…Iraq sucks!!!!
Ok, I feel better now:) Quickly after arriving here, I heard mention from several of my fellow Soldiers of a market near my barracks. A market where DVD’s are cheap, and games are cracked. You can get tons of movies and games for $3-$5 a piece, with no catch…or is there? You can buy a modded X-Box for around $150 and then buy games for it for $3 each and they run flawlessly on your personalized XBOX, pretty sweet I must say. I’ve never been a big fan of the xbox (i have a computer, what’s the difference?), but man if I ever really wanted and xbox and every game that has ever come out for it, now would be the time to buy. Seeing as how this isn’t my interest, I turn towards a topic that is. Computer games. This past weekend I purchased Civ 4 and AoE 3 for $10. Crack, CD keys and Images provided, and ready to play out of the box….errr tiny plastic bag. Sure it’s illegal….well in some countries…but oh not here, nothing says they can’t do it so technically I made a legal purchase ( I think).
As far as computer games go this is great, but the best part about this market is the DVD series. Take for example Star Trek: The Next Generation. If you were to buy this in a store in the states, it would run you roughly $60-$70 a season if not more. I am wandering around the market looking at various box sets and come across one for STTNG. It says on the cover season 1-7 on 22 discs. I was like wow sweet, but how much…? I turn it on the side it says $50. Fabulous, sold, I’m all over it. So now I’m the proud owner of a complete set of STTNG, well almost. A few of the episodes have the last 30 seconds or so cut off, but hey that’s only the end credits anyway. You have no special features, just the episodes…fine with me.
While being in Iraq sucks, it’s probably the best thing to get me caught up on my television shows:) Hell I’m not sure I really got to any sort of point with this post, but if anyone wants anything you know how to reach me:) Lost seasons 1 and 2 for cheap anyone?:)
Drack out…

Lost is amazing. I already own season 1 and will no doubt be buying the official hugely priced season 2 dvd’s because i’m a consumer whore! At least Iraqis are hitting us where it hurts…and pirating things that we make so they can get them for free despite the fact that they wouldn’t be buying them anyway. Awesome!

This hardly hits us where it hurts, as the amount of income they generate from it is very small in comparison to the money they make from drugs, oil and ransoms.

I figured it was obvious that I was being facetious, but we all know that no nation is complete without it’s drug, oil, and ransom funds.
